About Kanishk Silk

Founded in 2025 by Smt. Kusum Lata Singh at the age of 68, Kanishk Silk is the culmination of a lifelong journey shaped by responsibility, leadership, and unwavering belief.

At 19, she assumed family responsibilities after the loss of her father. What followed was a life defined by strength and public service. In 1990, she became the first woman Director of the South Eastern Railway Credit Cooperative Society. She later served as Assistant General Secretary of a Trade Union and, in 1994, was elected Chairperson of the All India Women Committee of Hind Mazdoor Sabha. That same year, she represented India at the World Women’s Conference in Beijing.

Alongside her professional journey, she began a garment business in 1995, building trust through craftsmanship and quality. Even then, her eye for detail and appreciation for fine textiles set her apart.

After retiring in 2018, she returned to what she had always loved: creating. Living in Chhattisgarh, she observed something deeply personal: while the region was home to the exquisite legacy of pure Kosa silk, authentic, premium pure silk sarees rooted in this heritage were not always presented with the refinement and respect they deserved. She recognized the gap between tradition and elevated presentation.

Driven by passion and purpose, she chose to bridge it.

Kanishk Silk was born and burtured by the cultural richness of the land and inspired by the timeless beauty of pure Kosa silk. Every pure silk saree reflects the earthiness, strength, and quiet sophistication of the region. The textures are natural, the drapes graceful, the elegance effortless.
